Meet Poppy
A native Minnesotan, Diane ‘Poppy’ Popowich has been in ice skates since she was a toddler. From a backyard pond to the Opening Ceremonies of the 1980 Winter Olympics, figure skating was her first passion; the rink — her second home. She skated 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, dedicating all of her free time to perfecting her craft. At 15 years of age, a diagnosis of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis threatened to derail her dream. Doctors told her she would never skate again.
Luckily, Poppy did not take no for an answer. She scaled back, but parting with her skates, her rink and her team was not an option. She persevered and went on to skate with the Edina Braemarettes in the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics at 16 years of age — only 1 year after her diagnosis. Beating the doctor’s odds was the first battle she would go on to win; all with the mentality that anything is possible.
Over the years, fear and doubt crept into her strong foundation and Poppy eventually found herself a single mother, with mountains of debt and no confidence in herself. Through personal development and mentorship, she was able to access her inner strength and pull herself up to pay off the debt and began designing her own life.
She is now an accomplished Author, Speaker, DreamMaker, Chef & Peak Experience Promoter, and her favorite role…mom! She is sought after for her unique speaking engagements, culinary events, and motivational writing. She is a guest speaker at Zig Ziglar International, co-author with best-selling authors Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul), Johnny Wimbrey, Les Brown and Jim Rohn.
Poppy is also active in the non-profit community. Currently, she is involved with Single Parent Advocate and is in the process of creating her own 501c3 organization dedicated to proving personal development scholarships to women in need.
It’s never too late to live the life you dreamed about. Poppy can help YOU design your life today!
